Chapter 6 – Making a Wish!

They stumble across two see-through flasks much like the previous three they gathered in an earlier room. Inside them this time, there is a blue-tinted liquid with a strange symbol along with a dusty, old tome. It read, ‘Drink these for magical protection!’
Rheill decides to take the two glass-bottles. and passes them to Isai, who has knowledge in healing; Isai puts them in his backpack, “So that was worth, travelling back for indeed!” Said Isai.
“We should check out what is beyond the room we just fought the Screamers in and if we are, concealed. let’s get some rest!” Replied Sana.
Karna and Rheill both lead the way back into that room, and then they progress through the area and out of the other side. Isai’s firebrand is about to fade, but luckily, he has two torches in reserve inside of his backpack. They follow the path; it takes a winding-sharp turn, and they come to a steel portcullis with squared holes again in the middle of the door. There is another lion-headed water fountain next to the door on the right. A trickling sound of the substance could be heard rippling from the lion’s mouth to the base of the spring. On the adjacent wall, some hazy writing was visible next to it on the right; it reads ‘This fountain accepts only one wish.’
“This appears to be a good spot to rest, and a water supply makes it extremely convenient for us, while we work out this new riddle,” said Karna.
As she slouches down to relax opposite the fountain and she begins to stare at the water flow. She abruptly thinks about, ‘Will I ever see the rays of the sunshine radiate down upon the lush green grass and beautiful wilderness outside again. Also, would I be able to smell the scent of the flowers and red roses again’ were the thoughts racing through her mind.
“What is wrong, Karna?” asked Rheill as he noticed, there was something different about her.
“Oh, it is nothing… do not worry about it, Rheill!” Replied Karna hiding, what she was thinking about to him.
Rheill could tell she was hiding something, but he quietly just holds his arm around her shoulder to comfort her. Karna’s glistening lips curve into an imposing smile as she closes her eyes gently.
“We will eat after resting!” Declared Sana as she finishes her sentence the torch suddenly burns out.
“Could we move away from the door, just to be safe? Let’s go and camp in the big room?” Asked Isai.
“Yes, that is a marvellous idea. I will carry Karna because she is fast asleep!” replied Rheill to Isai, as he picks her up in his arms gently.
The previous battles seem to have taken a lot out of her. Sana adores the site of Karna in his arms, and her face melts into a smile as Rheill places her gently down in the room next to him. Next, he rests her head on his chest as he then lies down to relax. Rheill then places a good night kiss on her forehead. In the meantime, Sana and Isai get comfortable together and fall fast asleep, but not as cosey as Karna and Rheill. All four of them now rest for several hours in a deep and hazy, well-deserved and needed sleep.

Chapter 5 – Learning the Value of Team Work

They immediately enter, under the archway of the opened reinforced wooden door. The dungeon has now reverted, back to its old colour on the walls and ceiling. The heroes and heroines now follow the passage around the corner and find yet another squared pressure plate on the floor. The party decides to step over it, and they hear a clicking sound, but nothing seems to have happened.
“Hmm… nothing happened?” wondered Sana as she speaks again, “Maybe something has happened around the corner.”
“Step off of the pad everyone and do not move further down that corridor. It could be closing a trap or anything, do not risk it!” replied Isai.
Luckily for them, they heeded Isai’s advice well; if one person went down that corridor alone, they would have been engulfed, by an extended chasm that just appeared out of nowhere.
“What powerful magic! Oh, by the Gods, how deep is that hole!?” exclaimed Rheill.
“Well, I am not going anywhere near… to have a look at it!” said Karna, stamping her foot; not wanting any part of another disaster to do with heights.
The bottom of the chasm, could not even be seen by the human eye. It is right around the next corner from the pressure pad.
“This looks to be the same type of mechanism, which we encountered at the previous door,” stated Sana, using her intelligence.

Chapter 4 – Screamers and Mummies

The shadowy figure slowly moves closer to them, and they can finally distinguish what it is. A gigantic tree was seen, in the distance; it stands as elevated as the dungeon ceiling and has many branches that are moving about with stalks disappearing into the ground. Also, on the prominent part of the tree, illuminate-green leaves and red apples are found growing on the inside of the cotyledons. The tree’s branches seem to be also withered and look fragile; although they also appear fierce and justified to the sheer size of them. The enormous tree slithers along the corridor grabbing and tugging at the dungeon walls to get closer to them.
“What the hell, this tree is moving!” yelled Rheill, as he readies himself for battle, by drawing his sword; Karna joins him as well in the front line.
“Stay back, Sana and Isai, let Rheill and I deal with this monstrous thing; it is, which we have been trained to do!” declared Karna.
firstly, Karna moves in and ducks the incoming tree branch that smashes into the wall; some magic is at work here, as the wall does not budge with the sheer force that it had used to try and land a hit on her.
Rheill slices the left branch off with a slashing, descending spiral attack from his falchion. Alas, it does not stop the tree a single bit, as another branch swings towards Rheill; Karna swiftly intercepts the ligneous plant and cuts it off as well with a curving slashing-strike, before it strikes him. Somehow, the gigantic tree is still standing and shows no signs of letting up. Suddenly, a dagger flies between Karna’s and Rheill’s bodies with incredible accuracy and strikes the treetop, where the leaves and apples are. The tree lets out a terrible, unsettling shriek, which forces all four of them to cover their ears momentarily. Next, the tree comes crashing down as Isai and Sana pull both Karna and Rheill out of harm’s way; the giant woody plant then lays motionless on the stony, grey floor. “Sana, you did it!” shouted Isai in amazement to Sana.
“Well done, Sana, now we know the tree’s weak spot… if there are any more. It would seem the life force was on the top of the tree. This place gets stranger and bizarre by the minute,” responded Karna.
Rheill pulls out the dagger, which is covered in bright green juice, and hands it back to Sana; she gently takes it and says, “Thank you, sir.”
Rheill investigates the dead-tree closer and begins to chop it into smaller pieces from the top of the tree.
“This plant is a great, food source; look at the size of it. We have enough slices for each of us, for a few days possibly?” replied Rheill to Karna.
“Are you seriously, going to eat that, Rheill?” questioned Karna.
“Yes, what else do we have, to eat; they resemble a different coloured grapefruit with pieces of red apple inside of them,” explained Rheill.
Sana starts collecting the tree slices one at a time, and she begins to pack them into her backpack.
“I am going to be calling these Screamer slices, because of the horrid shriek, it made when it died!” said Sana.
“Ha, ha, a superb choice!” chuckled Karna, in response to Sana’s choice of naming.

Chapter 3 – The Descent Into the Darkness Begins!

Karna stumbles at the bottom of the stairs, knocking Rheill over as she falls right on top of him; just as Rheill takes the unlit-torch out of his backpack. Sana lights the torch with her magic Ful Rune, which she learned earlier; suddenly the dungeon is illuminated. Karna is peering directly and deeply into Rheill’s gentle hazel-eyes; with her gorgeous radiant-hazel eyes. He gently grabbed her as she fell from the stairs because of the enveloping, darkness and into his sturdy, muscular arms.
“I am so sorry, Rheill that was clumsy of me,” said Karna, as she blushes brightly as a strawberry. Karna turns away, swiftly as she is extremely embarrassed about what just happened to her.
“Do not worry, Karna, no one witnessed a thing!” snickered Isai as he looks at Rheill and Sana.
“I will hear this for the rest of today!” replied Karna, with her sparkling-hazel eyes hidden as she is peering at their surroundings.

Book 1 -Journey to the Tomb of the Firestaff – Chapter 2 – Hall of Champions

“The only way is onwards,” spoke Rheill.
Next, they deliberately start to move forward and around the corner where the dungeon takes a sharp ninety-degree turn to the right; there is a side passage immediately ahead, and it is presently off to the right. Then, another turn to the left, the walls are all detailed the same, nothing fancy at all; before the corner is a puddle on the floor as well.
Karna begins speaking, “This is most strange… there is no source of light, yet the dungeon is crystal clear. Perhaps maybe down the path as we go farther inside. We should find a torch or another suitable form of light-source?”
Sana replied to Karna in a subdued voice, not wanting to yell in case of anything lurking beyond, “If I can find the Runes for a light spell… I will most likely be able to cast it with the training that I have learned so far!”
Rheill and Isai look at Karna and Sana in approval. Nevertheless, Rheill mentions something else.
“We will also need to consider a source of food and water for our provisions as what we have will only last for the night.”
“Also, it is getting very late. We should scout this area ahead and then set up camp. Tired people are soon dead ones!” Answered Isai.
“We will need new armour as well; as we had to drop our equipment thanks to that dangerous bridge!”
Karna shudders when she mentions about that tight-roped wooden bridge; it shows she is still dead scared of what almost happened to her, though Karna seems to now be at peace with heights for the time being.
The humble, party of adventurers agrees with each other, and they press on to a little turning in the right-handed wall. All the entourage find is merely a very narrow corridor with nothing in it but a dead end. All of them did not need a step forward to investigate this; they decide to move on and head around to the left. As the party then attempts that, the group comes to yet another twisting corridor, and at the end; there is something on the wall. But from where the small group are currently standing, they cannot make out what it is at all.
“Let’s take a closer look, and I will take guard,” said Rheill quietly as he moved around the corner.
Karna then replied, “Don’t you dare go off too far on your own,” in a worried tone of voice.
“I most surely will not, honey… just trust me,” replied Rheill.
Karna turns away and smiles as Rheill calls her honey, hiding it from both Sana and Isai. Sana then examines the wall closer and notices some encrypted text; she begins reading it out loud, “Hall of Champions,” spoke Sana.
A puzzled expression crosses Isai’s face as he then tells the two females what he is estimating to himself.
“If this is the Hall of Champions? Why did Theron bring us here, this does not make any sense at all!”
Rheill returns and yells out extremely, loudly, “COME QUICKLY… YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS!”
Karna grabs Rheill and shakes him, “Calm down honey, we will come, but please do not yell, as you might alert something towards our presence!”
